Athena is cancer free!

What a huge relief.  Athena is okay!  She had the lump removed and it’s benign.  It was really hard waiting for news especially after losing Bosco to cancer.

Athena needed two teeth removed and we had no idea.  So I’m glad this happened.  She had bone loss because of her teeth and she must have been in pain.

She did end up with GI issues a few days later but our vet gave us some meds and she was on the mend.  Then a few days after that, the incision where the lump was got infected.  Luckily my vet just needed to see a photo and she gave Athena a broad spectrum antibiotic.  She is still finishing those meds but it looks much better.  Hum… I wonder what cause the infection?  🤢.   (As a side note, cold water is the way to go when cleaning up after pups with GI issues.  Apparently hot water was a bad idea because it sets those kinds of stains.  🤦‍♀️).

  1. Oh yay! Cheers to no cancer, what a relief!

Sorry about the infection but glad things are better. Some vets have told us they won’t double up on dental work (even cleanings) and other surgical procedures just to save a dog from extra anesthesia. This is because messing with teeth can throw bacteria into the bloodstream. I’m not a vet but maybe that’s what happened? Who knows, but at least she is feeling better now!

  2. YAAAAAAY!!!! We knew Bosco was watching over her and would take good care of her. After all, he sent her to you. He knew she needed an understanding and patient family like yours, and you needed to add some more room for love in that compassionate heart in yours. Bosco knows he will ALWAYS have a corner of your heart where he will stay nestled furever. He wants Athena to know what love felt like AND what if felt like to never, ever be abandoned again!!

Such a relief to have Athena get a clean bill of health and to be feeling so much better. What Jerry said about the infection seems to make sense.

She’s such a pretty girl. I’m just so happy for her…and fot you❤❤

How is Bosco’s tripawd tree doing?

    Hugs
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
