Quick update

Athena has surgery yesterday and it went well.  She seems happy and bright today.  The vet was pretty optimistic and said there were no obvious signs it is cancer.  We have to wait a week for results but that’s a good sign.  Athena needed two teeth pulled.  That’s a good thing too.  Hopefully it accounts for her bad breath, which is also a sign of melanoma.  Poor girl must have been hurting and I am glad she will be feeling better.  I’ll update as soon as we know more.  Hopefully she will be ok.

  1. Yay Athena! 2 teeth can definitely make a huge difference in the breath department! That along with the tarter and plaque buildup.
So glad the doc is optimistic, that is a great sign. Keeping fingers, toes, paws, and tails crossed that you get the benign results soon 😽

    1. Thanks! I am crossing everything!!!!! She has been spunky and happy, so I’m guessing she feels better despite sore gums. 🤞

  2. Yay for surgery day to be over! She rocked it, that’s pawesome. Hope she’s doing better today and has an easy recovery. Thanks for the pupdate. Got any pics?

    1. She was doing great. Saturday night she started having GI issues. Last night was really tough and I’m calling the vet as soon as they open. I’m sure we will get it under control. She is so different from Bosco. She has had accidents and almost seems to try to hide it. Then she looks so scared when we find it. It’s awful. She did something really gross last night, maybe trying to hide it. Poor girl must of had a very hard life.

Yes, I will post more pics as soon as I can.

  3. Sounds like she is a very smart and proud dog. Some dogs are just like that, they would turn themselves inside out trying not to have an accident. Poor girl. If she is having diarrhea, you can try boiling up some long grain rice with some bouillon in the water and add some ground beef or chicken to it and see if that will help stop it.
I hope she did better today, sending hugs.
